The Knight of the Burning Pestle, by a contemporary of Shakespeare, is a neglected comic gem that gleams when a little polish is applied, says its director, Matthew Surrence:
"The situation, in which a pushy married couple in the audience forces an acting troupe to rewrite the play they're performing to give a starring role to their apprentice, is rife with hilarity, and this cast misses no opportunity to make the most of all the comic possibilities."
