John Hinkel Park Amphitheatre
From I-80: Exit University Ave. Go east and turn left on Shattuck. Continue to tunnel, but take the right turn and go to right of the tunnel. Turn right at the circle at the top of the hill. Turn right up Arlington. From Arlington and continue straight onto Somerset Place. From Hwy 24: Exit on Berkeley. Go west down Tunnel Road onto Ashby. Turn right on Shattuck. Continue to tunnel, but take the right turn and go to right of the tunnel. Turn right at the circle at the top of the hill. Turn right up Arlington. From Arlington and continue straight onto Somerset Place. Bart/AC Transit: Take the #7 AC Transit Bus north from Downtown Berkeley BART station. Once you pass the Arlington Circle, watch for our signs out on the corner of Arlington and Southhampton Avenue |
The amphitheatre seats over 200 people, but we will reserve the first few rows as a courtesy especially to the elderly and disabled - call 510-649-5999 to make a reservation. The amphitheatre is wheelchair accessible - access is best from Somerset Pl, take Southhampton from Arlington and continue straight onto Somerset Place. (Google Maps will send you to the top of park, quite a hike down). The amphitheatre consists of a series of stone steps. Low lawnchairs are acceptable, or bring pillows and/or blankets.
