Remembering Jeff Dunn and Thank you to Susan Dunn

Actors Ensemble is very proud of our acclaimed production of Death of a Salesman, which closes its run today in a sold-out final performance.  This production would not be the success it is without the contributions of the entire cast and staff. With heavy hearts, we'd like to especially remember on this day the composer and performer of the beautiful, heartfelt original music for this production, Jeff Dunn, who also designed and recorded the various sound effects in cooperation with the cast.  Jeff passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on November 21st.

Joseph O'Loughlin | 1946 - 2020

A member of the Actors Ensemble family passed away during these past months, and the family has now chosen to make the news public. Joe memorably performed with us in many productions, including 2011's "Heartbreak House", 2015's "Panhandle", and most recently our 2017 production of "The Caucasian Chalk Circle".

George Marchi | 1926 – 2019

February 27, 1926 – October 23, 2019

George Marchi, teacher, theatre-maker, and friend, passed away from lymphoma at the V.A. Hospital in San Francisco late in 2019.  George along with a number of his friends founded Actors Ensemble of Berkeley in 1957 as a result of a conversation he had with his friend Bill Matheson on a Berkeley street corner in 1955 - the organization continues to this day.

Marge Glicksman 1932- 2020

Marjorie Glicksman died peacefully on July 16th in her Kensington home, following hospitalization for a heart attack.  Marge Gunderson Glicksman was from Chetek, Wisconsin, moving to California as a young teen during WW2.

William Martinelli | 1930 - 2017

A passion for theater, always a smile in his eyes!

William Martinelli, lifelong resident of Oakland and board member of Actors Ensemble of Berkeley since its incorporation in 1957, died of a lung infection at a medical facility in Oakland on July 13, 2017. Bill was the only child of Doris and Peter Martinelli, born on Jan. 5, 1930. For the majority of his life Bill lived at the family home on the corner of Kansas Street and 35th Avenue in Oakland.
