Complete Works of Shakespeare

Actors Ensemble celebrates our 61st season, and our 6th year back in John Hinkel Park, with TWO productions this summer. Our second production is "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged", the uproarious, madcap mashup of all of Shakespeare's plays by Winfield, Singer, and Long. Originally produced by the Reduced Shakespeare Company in the West End of London.  Updated and adapted by Vicki Siegel and Crystal Brown, and directed by Crystal Brown. Presented free of charge in Berkeley's fantastic John Hinkel Park Amphitheatre.

Opens Saturday, August 18th at 4 p.m., and continuing Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. until September 2nd, with a final performance at 4 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd. All performances are free of charge.

Featuring a mix of newcomers a veterans: Bruce Kaplan, Saskia Baur, Jeanette Sarmiento, Lisa Wang, Patrick Glenn, Ian Wilcox, Sophia Lanz-Weil, Kent Mannis, and Meira Perelstein

Costumes by Kacy Dapp, assisted by Helen Slomowitz. Set design by Elena Childs. Stage management by Ayumi Namba, Technical direction by Robert Gudmundsson. Graphic design by Vicki Victoria. Produced by Michael Cohen and Jerome Solberg.

Our production will be directed by Crystal Brown, originally from Dallas, Texas. Crystal is an international actress with performance credits including "Nunsense" with Altarena, "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Twelfth Night" with Actors Ensemble, "Female Ashkenazi with Sewing Machine" with Inferno Theatre, and "Die Meistersingern von Nurnberg" with the Royal Opera House in London. Recently she directed Ibsen's "Rosmersholm" as part of Actors Ensemble's Winter Staged Reading Series. She recently performed as the lead actress in "The Human Ear" with Anton's Well Theatre Company in Berkeley.

The venue consists of a series of stone terraces, bring cushions, low lawnchairs, and/or blankets. There will be one 15-minute intermission. Wheelchair accessible, including ADA-approved bathrooms. Actors Ensemble is the longest-running theatre organization in Berkeley, founded in 1957. We aim to produce quality theatre emphasizing the ensemble, with a community flavor.
